More Than a Gym. A Community.
At the DAC, we’ve always believed that a fitness club should feel like more than a building full of equipment. It should feel like your people: the kind who notice when you’re absent, who cheer you through the last thirty seconds of a HIIT interval, who save you a spot in spin when they know you’re running late.
Group fitness classes are where that community lives and breathes. Walk into any of our studios on any given week and you’ll find over 60 classes happening: Barre, Spin, HIIT, Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Dance, and more. Behind each one is an instructor who knows your name, and beside you are members who have become friends.
For anyone considering membership at the DAC, this is what makes us different. This isn’t a place you blend into. This is a place you belong to.
Why Variety in Your Fitness Routine Actually Matters
Here’s something your body already knows, even if your routine doesn’t: doing the same workouts over and over stops working.
It’s called a plateau: that frustrating wall where the scale stops moving, strength gains stall, or your workouts just don’t seem to be doing much anymore. It happens because the human body is incredibly efficient at adapting. Once it figures out what you’re asking it to do, it gets better at doing it with less effort, which sounds great in theory but in practice means fewer calories burned, fewer muscles activated, and less progress made.
The science-backed fix is to mix it up. Combine cardio formats like cycling, dance cardio, and swimming to challenge your cardiovascular system in different ways. Add strength-focused classes like Barre or Pilates to build the muscular endurance and stability you might not get from traditional lifting alone (though please don’t skimp on traditional lifting either). Classes like WARRIOR Strength and Group Power offer muscle hypertrophy and strength training with a functional approach and a more traditional approach, respectively. Round things out with mind-body formats like Yoga and Tai Chi to improve mobility, reduce injury risk, and support recovery, and try formats that emphasize balance and coordination, like Ellové, Fit4Life, and WARRIOR Rhythm, which activate stabilizer muscles that most traditional workouts miss entirely.
Our Group X schedule was designed with exactly this in mind: a full spectrum of formats so that no matter what your goals are, you can build a well-rounded, plateau-proof routine without ever leaving the DAC.
Friends Who Work Out Together, Stay Together
Research consistently shows that people who exercise with others are more likely to show up consistently, push harder during workouts, and stick with their fitness habits long-term. But at the DAC, we don’t need a study to tell us that. We see it every single day.
We see it in the 6am cycling crew that’s been riding together for decades. In the ZONE class regulars who connect for game nights on the weekend. In the members who started as strangers on adjacent yoga mats and now coordinate their entire work schedules around class time.
That accountability, that “I can’t skip today because my people are counting on me” feeling, is one of the most powerful tools in fitness. And it doesn’t come from a machine or an app. It comes from showing up in a room with real humans who are glad you’re there.
Introducing: DAC Group X Bingo, All of August!
This August, we’re turning all of the above into a game, and a pretty fun one at that.
We’re launching DAC Group X Bingo: a month-long challenge designed to get you into new classes, connect you with new instructors and classmates, and reward you for every step of the journey. Here’s how it works.
- Pick up your bingo card, available at each Group X studio and at the Welcome Desk starting August 1. Fill in your contact info on the back right away so it’s ready to go.
- Attend classes, earn stickers. Each square on your card corresponds to a specific class or class type. Attend it, and your instructor (or a Club Rep at the Welcome Desk) places a sticker on your square. One sticker per class.
- Get a BINGO, earn a raffle entry. Four squares in a row, horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, equals one raffle entry. Fill out your contact info, drop the card in the raffle box, and you’re in.
- Go for the BLACKOUT for 5x the entries. Complete every single square on your card and you earn five raffle entries.
- There’s no limit on cards. Grab as many bingo cards as you want. Every completed bingo or blackout is another entry into the drawing.
The raffle drawing takes place in early September, and there are some great prizes up for grabs. The more classes you attend, the more entries you earn. It’s really that simple.
The best workout you’ll ever have is the one you actually show up for. And the easiest way to show up? Have a reason, have a card, and have a friend waiting for you in class.
Come Be Part of Something.
Maybe you’re a long-time DAC member with a favorite class and a favorite spot. Maybe you’re brand new to group fitness and not sure yet where you fit. Either way, August is the perfect time to explore.
Try the class you’ve been curious about. Introduce yourself to the instructor. Show up for the friend who invited you. See what happens.
We’ll see you in the studio.
