Walk into any Group X class at the DAC and you’ll see familiar faces, members making room for someone new, and an instructor who notices when a regular hasn’t been in. That’s what Group X at the DAC has always been about, and it’s why our new schedule, starting 10/1, is built to help you show up more often.
A full week of balance, already built for you
One of the hardest parts of staying consistent is figuring out what to do next. Our Group X schedule takes care of that. With more than 70 classes across all seven days, you can build a balanced routine without writing a single workout plan:
> Cardio: Spin, Cycle Beats, Cardio Dance, Cardio Funk, Cardio Groove, and the new Cardio Step
> Strength: Group Power, WARRIOR Strength, Barre, and The ZONE
> Core and control: Pilates Mat, Pilates Mat II, Quick Core, WARRIOR Rhythm, and Ellovè
> Mobility and recovery: Yoga, Gyrokinesis, Tai Chi + Mobility, and Gentle Yoga
> In the water: Aqua-Fit and Masters Swim
Pick two or three strength or cardio classes, add one mobility class, and you’ve got a week that works your whole body and gives it time to recover. Mix in a pool class, and you’ve covered more ground than a solo routine usually does.
Why working out in numbers works
It’s easy to skip a workout when no one’s expecting you. It’s much harder when your Wednesday Spin crew is wondering where you are. Group classes give you a time on the calendar, an instructor who knows your name, and people who notice when you’re missing. That kind of accountability is what turns “I should work out” into a routine that sticks.
It’s also more fun: the music, the shared effort, the post-class conversation in the hallway. Many of the friendships at the DAC started on a bike or a mat, and we’d love for yours to be next.
New this fall, and worth a try
GYROKINESIS® with Marilyn | Wednesday, 12:15pm – 1:15pm, Studio 1
A slow, breath-led hour of flowing, circular movement on a mat and chair. Rather than isolating one muscle group, GYROKINESIS® opens up the whole body, with a focus on range of motion, posture, and a calm, clear mind. No experience needed. Socks are recommended for the wood floor, and mats and chairs are provided.
Barre Fundamentals with Shana | Wednesday, 5:30pm – 6:15pm, Mindbody Studio
New to Barre or just wanting to try? This class teaches the essential positions, alignment, and technique so you can build confidence from the ground up. Been taking Barre for years? It’s a chance to refine your form and take it up a notch. Using the barre, mat, Pilates balls, bands, and wall space, you’ll strengthen your legs, glutes, core, and upper body while improving balance and control.
Ellovè® with Chelsea | Now Wednesdays at 11am AND Sundays at 10:30am, Studio 1
Ellovè blends ballet, yoga, fitness, and Pilates into a non-impact class set to an intentional playlist. Members tell us they leave feeling stronger, longer, and more connected to their bodies. With a second weekly session on Sunday mornings, it’s easier than ever to make it part of your week.
Everything else changing on 10/1
> Cardio Dance with Emma: moves to Monday, 10:30am – 11:15am, Studio 1
> Cycle Beats with Nate (new): Monday, 12pm-12:45pm AND 5:30pm – 6:15pm, Cycle Studio
> Cardio Step with Marianne (new): Tuesday, 9am – 9:45am, Studio 1
> Cycle Beats: Chelsea now leads Wednesdays at 12pm, Marilyn leads Fridays at 12pm
> Courtney’s Spin: moves from Tuesday to Wednesday, 5:30pm, Cycle Studio
Beyond the studio
Group X is a great anchor, and it works best alongside everything else the Club offers. Pair your classes with personal training, a heart-rate-guided workout in The ZONE, a private session at Downtown Pilates, laps in the pool, or a game on the courts. Then give your body what it needs to recover with the sauna, steam room, cold plunge, or hot tub, or book an assisted stretch with personal trainer Karra. Moving in different ways and taking recovery seriously is how you keep feeling good for years, not just weeks.
Your next step
Pick one class you’ve never tried and put it on your calendar for the first week of October. Bring a friend if you can. Find the full schedule at downtownac.com/schedules/class-schedule, or in the DAC app, and if you’d like help building a weekly routine, contact Jen at jstanton@downtownac.com. We’ll see you in class.
