Spice Up Your Summer Salads

Summertime is obviously known for being hot and busy, so let’s help where we can. We’ve put together different options to create fun, cool, easy-to-make salads that everyone will love. If you’re having a salad as your main meal, be sure to fill it with nutrient dense and substantial ingredients to keep you going all day!

Protein

  • chicken
  • shrimp
  • tofu
  • turkey
  • hard boiled eggs
  • fish
  • crab
  • lobster
  • tuna, fresh or packaged
  • chickpeas
  • edamame
  • beans

Carbohydrate

  • quinoa
  • rice
  • sweet potato
  • corn
  • farrow
  • peas
  • bulgur
  • lentils

Fats

  • avocado
  • nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans, pistachios, etc.)
  • seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, etc.)
  • olive-oil based dressing
  • olives

Fresh Flavors

  • berries
  • mandarins
  • pomegranate seeds
  • apples
  • grapes
  • tomatoes
  • peaches
  • red onions, pickled or fresh
  • dried fruit
  • sweet potato

Other ingredients to spice up your salad can include cheese, herbs, spices, and a crunch! Crunchy options can vary from apples, to nuts, to wonton strips. Goat and feta cheese are great with savory and sweet ingredients, and have little lactose, if you’re intolerant. If you’re not intolerant, have that cheddar for us!
