Celebrating Nate Boozer: A Life of Movement, Community, and Meaningful Impact in Oregon

At the Downtown Athletic Club, we often say that what makes a premier health club truly special isn’t just the amenities, but the people. Nate is one who truly embodies that spirit.

For over 30 years, Nate has been part of the fabric of the DAC. Not just as an employee, but as someone who has grown up within these walls, helped shape its culture, and continues to inspire both members and the greater Eugene community every single day.

A Lifetime at the DAC

Nate’s connection to the Club runs deep. With his dad serving as General Manager for 16 years, the DAC has been a constant in his life. Long before it became his professional home.

He’s witnessed the evolution of the space in ways few others have:

  • When Studio One was something (and somewhere) entirely different
  • When there was just one pool
  • When Newberry was still a department store
  • Even the construction of the tunnel that now connects key parts of the Club

That kind of perspective creates something rare: not just an employee, but a steward of the Club’s history, energy, and future.

Recognized for Impact: The Training/Strength Ambassador for lululemon

Recently, Nate was selected as the Training/Strength Ambassador for lululemon – an honor that speaks volumes. This isn’t something you apply for. It’s something you’re chosen for.

lululemon actively seeks out individuals who are making a meaningful difference in their active communities; people who uplift others, create connection, and lead with purpose. Nate was approached directly after one of his Star Cycle classes this February.

Through this role, Nate will:

  • Lead and participate in community-centered events
  • Continue his education around wellness, movement, and inclusivity
  • Help people feel stronger—not just physically, but emotionally
  • Raise awareness and funds for organizations close to his heart including:
    • Greenhill Humane Society
    • Hope and Safety Alliance
    • Transponder (supporting the local LGBTQ+ community)

He has also recently joined the board of Greenhill, deepening his commitment to community connection and impact.

At the center of it all is his philosophy:
Helping people feel good in their bodies today – not someday.

Building Something Bigger: Work Dance Company

Beyond the Club, Nate is also the founder of Work Dance Company, a creative force in Eugene’s arts community.

What began in 2007 with just four dancers has grown into something remarkable:

  • 15 sell-out shows at the Hult Center
  • Performances in Portland and Astoria
  • Six “Best of Eugene” awards, including Best Dance Company and Best Dancer (three consecutive years)

After a pause during the pandemic, the company returned in 2025 reenergized and grounded in purpose.

Their upcoming performance is ELECTRIC – A Dance Extravaganza on Sunday, May 17 at 6:30pm at the Wildish Theatre in Springfield. A portion of proceeds will support Hope and Safety Alliance; yet another example of how Nate blends artistry with local impact.

Spend a few minutes with Nate, and you quickly realize his approach to fitness and life is refreshingly grounded. He’s not chasing perfection, he’s encouraging presence.

His personal mantra says it best:
“Showing up is doing it. The rest is extra credit.”

Outside the Club, you’ll find him:

  • Hiking local favorites like Spencer Butte and Mount Pisgah multiple times a week
  • Taking on challenges like South Sister (18 miles, 12,000 ft elevation)
  • Paddleboarding, finding stillness, and recharging in nature
  • Spending time on the Oregon coast with family

And at home? A lively crew of four pugs (his children)—Gigi, Paco, Abu, and Iggy—each with their own personality and place in the pack. He’s also newly engaged, entering an exciting new chapter of life with the same grounded energy he brings to everything he does.

Join Nate in the Movement

If you’ve taken a class with Nate, you already know the energy he brings. If you haven’t yet, there’s no better time. And if you’d like to support his work beyond the Club, consider attending the upcoming Work Dance Company performance or following along via Instagram @n8boozer and @workdancecompany

At the DAC, we’re proud to have leaders like Nate. Individuals who don’t just contribute to our community, but elevate it. Congratulations, Nate, we’re all so proud of you.
