On Wednesday, September 23, we’re throwing open every door at the Downtown Athletic Club for our Fall Open House: a free guest day full day of workouts, food, live music, and a few surprises, all in celebration of 40 years in downtown Eugene. Members and first-time guests are equally welcome, and there’s no cost to walk in.
Why it matters:
- A full free guest day, not just a tour: Anyone can work out at the DAC from 5am to 9pm on 9/23, no membership required. If you’ve been curious about the DAC, this is the easiest way in.
- Forty years deserves a real celebration: We’ve been part of this community since 1985, and this is our way of saying thank you to everyone who’s walked through our doors.
- A packed schedule, not just an open door: From a Cardio Funk class to root beer floats to a rubber duck plunge, there’s a reason to stay all day.
What’s Happening All Day
Here’s what’s on tap:
- Free Guest Workouts, 5am – 9pm: Full access to the Cardio + Strength Floor, Group Exercise classes, and the Gymnasium. Check the class schedule to plan your day.
- Coffee, 5am – 12pm: Fuel up before or after your workout.
- Yogurt Bar, 8am: A build-your-own bar to start the morning right, while supplies last.
- Baked Goods from Moss Culinary Studio, 8am: Local treats while supplies last.
- Snacks, 8am – 6pm: Grazing all day in the Lobby.
- Cardio Funk with Nate Boozer + lululemon, 10am – 10:45am: Be sure to RSVP. There’s only room for 30 dancers!
- Rubber Duck Plunge, 2pm – 6pm: A playful nod to our pools. Bring your kids to the pool to see what it’s about, go for a swim, and go into the Lap Pool to grab your favorite rubber duck!
- The Oregon Duck, 4pm – 5pm: Come take a selfie, give a high-five, and have a rootbeer float with the Oregon Duck!
- Live guitar by Paul Prince, 4pm – 6pm: Background music in the lobby all afternoon.
- Department Showcase, 4pm – 6pm: Meet the teams behind Group Exercise, Personal Training, Aquatics, The ZONE, and more, all in one place.
- BRIGHT Parade Hat-Making Station, 4pm – 6pm: A hands-on craft station for the whole family.
- Rootbeer floats by Owner, Rob Bennett, 4pm – 6pm: Come into the Lobby where the music is live, Duck is dancing, and Rob is serving rootbeer floats!
Dance It Out: Cardio Funk with Nate Boozer x lululemon
At 10am, Studio 1 turns into a dance floor for a 45-minute Cardio Funk pop-up class with Nate Boozer, in partnership with Eugene’s lululemon. Two left feet? Never danced a day in your life? Good, that’s exactly who this class is for. No experience required, and you’ll still walk out feeling like you nailed it.
This class fills up fast and caps at 30 participants, so it needs its own RSVP, separate from the general Open House RSVP. Reserve your spot for Cardio Funk here.
Bringing the Kids?
KidStop Childcare is available in two windows on 9/23: 8:30am – 1pm and 4:30pm – 6:30pm, for ages 6 weeks and up. Reservations are required. Book in person at the DAC Welcome Desk or call 541-484-4011 ext. 216. While you’re planning your day, take a look at KidStop Daycare and Newberry Preschool, both part of what makes the DAC a complete wellness experience under one roof.
RSVP and Come Say Happy Birthday
Forty years in downtown Eugene is worth celebrating with the people who made it happen: you. RSVP for the Fall Open House here to let us know you’re coming. It helps us plan the food and the fun. And if you’ve never stepped inside the DAC, this is the easiest way to see what your Eugene mornings (or evenings) could look like.
The information shared on the Downtown Athletic Club’s blog is intended for educational and inspirational purposes only and should not be considered medical advice.
The Downtown Athletic Club (DAC) has been Eugene’s locally owned, family-operated health club for over 40 years. Under one roof you’ll find a full Gymnasium, Cardio + Strength Floor, Group Exercise classes, a Lap Pool, warm-water therapy pool, Downtown Pilates Studio, The ZONE training program, Newberry Preschool, KidStop Daycare, and Zest Kitchen + Bar on our third floor. Locally owned means we get to build a club around the community we’ve built, and continue to build.
Ready to experience it for yourself? Enjoy a complimentary guest pass and come see why so many Eugene families call the DAC home. We’re located at 999 Willamette St, Eugene, OR 97401. Give us a call at 541-484-4011 anytime.
