Gym Etiquette Reminders

Everyone, occasionally, needs a friendly reminder about gym etiquette; to respect others space, time, and the DAC rules. Rules such as;
  • Share the Equipment: Be aware of other gym-goers and share equipment during busy times. Don’t monopolize machines or benches for extended periods.
  • Use Rest Periods Wisely: Take appropriate rest periods between sets, but don’t linger on equipment when you’re not actively using it. This helps others to rotate in.
  • Clean Up After Yourself: Always place dirty towels in the dirty towel bin and wipe down equipment after use, especially if you’ve been sweating on it. We provide sanitation supplies for this purpose.
  • Mind Your Noise Level: Keep the noise level down. Grunting, dropping weights, or loud conversations can be disruptive to others.
  • Respect Personal Space: Don’t encroach on someone else’s personal space by leaving bags or personal items on the floor.
  • Ask to Work In: If someone is using a piece of equipment you need, politely ask if you can work in between their sets, and be sure to adjust the weights to your preference when sharing.
  • Be Mindful of Time: Be aware of the time you spend on each machine or piece of equipment. If someone is waiting, offer to let them use it between your sets.
  • Limit Cell Phone Use: Keep your cell phone usage to a minimum while using equipment. It’s distracting and can slow down your workout and others’ as well.
  • Follow Gym Rules: Familiarize yourself with the gym’s rules and policies, and follow them diligently.
  • Stay Hydrated and Respect Hygiene: Stay hydrated but avoid leaving water bottles or towels on equipment when not in use. Also, be sure to maintain good personal hygiene.

Remember, the gym is a shared space, and being considerate of others ensures a positive experience for everyone.
