My name is Shea Kane and I have been a swim lesson instructor for over 4 years. I became an instructor in hopes to promote water safety, as well as teach students important skills and strokes they can use in the water to protect themselves while participating in or near different bodies of water. I think it’s important for everyone to learn how to swim, including toddlers and elderly persons. I do my best to make classes fun and engaging, but the most important thing that I want my students to take away from my classes is to remember the skills that they have learned, and apply them to life outside of swim lessons. My dream is to help people, and keep people safe and I think teaching people how to swim is a great way to do that.
SWIM INSTRUCTOR / SWIM TEAM
Hello! I am originally from Portland, OR, and am currently a senior at UO studying Human Physiology. I started swimming competitively in 3rd grade, and continued throughout high school. I have 6 years of swim instructing experience for all ages, skill levels, and abilities, with an additional 3 years of swim team coaching experience. I love tailoring my lessons to students individual learning styles, focusing on safety skills, stroke work, comfort in the water, and goals you come in with.
Swimming is a great form of exercise, meditation, and sport, and I hope to share my passion for the water with all of my students!
